The Career Development Centre recruits students and employers throughout the year, with the main focus in September and October. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please visit our home page and click on find out more to access the registration form. Induction for new mentors will take place at 3-4.30pm on Wednesday 18th September, followed after a short break by Workshop 1: Mentoring and Coaching, Getting Started,

Our comprehensive on-line mentor training package was developed by Margaret Wood of Acorn Training, in association with the University of Derby's Career Development Centre.

Margaret is a highly renowned trainer who works nationally with organisations such as the National Mentoring Consortium, Outokumpu Stainless Ltd and Oxfam.

Margaret has many years experience in equality and diversity and management training, she works closely with clients to discover their needs and develop solutions to embed changes in their organisations.

 
Optional workshops will be held to explore some of the training topics in more detail. They will also give you opportunities to network with other mentors and to meet a wider range of students. The programme for the academic year 2012/13 is as follows:-
